来週の水曜日で日本語のじゅぎょうがおわりますね。どうですか？　うれしいですか？　それとも、ちょっとかなしいでしょうか？

これがみなさんがきめた(to decide)ポッドキャストのひょうかきじゅんです。

1. ことば(Language):
Using current grammar and vocabulary, correct grammar, challenging, sound natural, not read a script, clear pronunciation, understandable speech (not too fast not too long), good pronunciation, no awkward pause

2. ないよう(Content)：
Creative, humorous, interesting, action, variety of background, costumes/accessories, appropriate, entertaining

3. プレゼンテーション(presentation):
Look clean, not too pixilated

さくらのこと

春休みがおわって、サウスベンドも少しあたたかくなりましたね。もうすぐほんとうに春が来るかな。どう思いますか？
　
私がはじめてアメリカに来たのは1991年ですから、もう17年ぐらいアメリカにすんでいます。でも、私はたいてい1年に2度ぐらい日本に帰るので、おいしい日本料理を食べたり、友だちに会ったり、家でゆっくりしたりします。いろいろな店に行ってふくを買ったり、おさけを飲みに行ったり、電車で旅行に行ったりもします。私はアメリカの生活が好きですけど、日本人だから日本も大好きなんです。

日本に帰るのはたいてい５月と冬休みなんですけど、ざんねんですが、その時には、私が一番見たいものが日本にありません。「一番見たいもの」って何だと思いますか？　---　それは「さくら」です。日本人にとって、さくらはとくべつな花なんです。さくらは、たいてい３月のおわりから４月にさきますが、この時、アメリカの大学には休みがありませんから、日本に帰れません。さくらの花がさいているのは１週間ぐらいでとてもみじかいんです。雨がふったりつよい風がふいたりする時には、すぐにだめになります。だから、きれいなさくらを見るのは、ちょっとむずかしいんです。

日本人はさくらが大好きですから、友だちや会社の人とよく「お花見」をします。お花見は、さくらの木の下で食べものを食べたりおさけを飲んだりするパーティーのことです。カラオケをするグループもあって、とてもにぎやかですよ。

私の誕生日は４月のはじめなんですが、母によると、私が東京の病院で生まれた時、病院のにわはさくらの花が満開だったそうです。さいきん、温暖化でせかいはあたたかくなっているから、東京のさくらはちょうど今とてもきれいだそうです。さくら予報のウェブサイトもあるんですよ。

そして、これは森山直太朗（もりやま・なおたろう）という歌手の「さくら」といううたです。とてもいいうただと思いますから、聞いて下さい。

ところで、みなさんは、ノートルダムのキャンパスにもさくらの木があるのを、しっていますか？　とても小さい木ですが、４本ぐらい、キャンパスの北にあるSt. Josephのみずうみのちかくにあるんですよ。私は去年このしゃしんをとりました。しゃしんをとったのは４月２３日でしたから、今年もその時に満開かもしれません。天気がいい日にみんなで見に行きませんか？

ひなまつり---３／３

今日は３月３日、ひなまつりです。ひなまつりって何でしょうか？　しっていますか？

ひなまつりは女の子のまつり(festival)で、この日、女の子どもがいる家では　ひな人形（にんぎょうdoll)を　かざって(to decorate)、おいわい(celebration)をします。このまつりは、平安時代（へいあんじだい period ）に　はじまりましたから、１０００年ぐらいのとてもながいれきしがあるんですよ。

ひなまつりの日に、よくちらしずしやおかしを食べて、白ざけを飲みます。そして、もも(peach)のはなはシンボルなので、いっしょにかざります。

かんじのべんきょう

先週から第１０課（だい１０か）のべんきょうがはじまりました。だんだん(gradually)かんじは　むすかしくなってきましたね。みなさんは去年（きょねん）の１０月からかんじをべんきょうしていますけど、今１００ぐらい書ける(be able to)とおもいますよ。

これから、かんじはもっとおおくなりますから、もっとたいへんになるとおもいます。でも、この本はやくにたつ(useful)とおもいます。

すし・カラオケパーティー

先週の金曜日、2/13の6時半から、CSLCでJapan Clubのすしとカラオケのパーティーがありました。40人ぐらい学生が来たから、とてもにぎやかでした。Martin'sで買ったさかな（まぐろ、サーモン、うなぎ）、きゅうり、アボカド、それから南山（なんざん）大学の学生が作ってくれたたまごやきがありました。てまきずしは　どうでしたか？　

そのあと、インターネットカラオケでうたをうたいました。1年生の学生もたくさんうたいましたね。もちろん、南山の学生や先生もうたいました。シャムーン先生の演歌（えんか）はすごく上手（じょうず）でしたよ。みんな、うたを聞きながら、おりがみで千羽鶴（せんばづる=ten thousand cranes）を作りました。金曜日にぜんぶで三百羽（わ=counter for birds）できました。　　すごい！　千羽できたら、サウスベンドのびょういんにもって行く(to bring)そうです。

パーティーがおわったのはごご11時でしたから、私はへとへと(exhausted)でした....。

はるがっき(spring semester)が　はじまりました！　サウスベンドは、毎日すごくさむくてたいへんですね。でも、がんばりましょう。

私はふゆ休みに１か月日本にかえりました。私は、日本でお正月(new year's day)をすごす(to spend)のが大好きです。とくべつなりょうりを食べて、おさけをのんで、ゆっくりします。これは私のははがつくった「おせちりょうり」です。きれいでしょう？

シカゴにいきました

先週（しゅう）の土曜日（どようび）、日本人のともだちといっしょに　　　くるまでシカゴのアーリントンハイツ(Arlington Heights)にいきました。　サウスベンドからアーリントンハイツまで２じかんぐらいかかります。そこには日本のものがたくさんありますから、わたしはよくいきます。

はじめに、ミツワのスーパーにいきました。ミツワの中には、フードコートと日本の本やもあります。私とともだちは、本やでざっし(magazine)を　　　よんで、スーパーでさかなとやさいをかいました(to buy)。ひるごはんは、　日本のやきそばパンとたまご(egg)サンドイッチでした。日本のパンは、　　とてもおいしいです。わたしは、アメリカのパンがあまりすきじゃありません。日本のパンは、しろくてふわふわです。やきそばパンは、パンの中にやきそばがあります。日本のサンドイッチはアメリカのとぜんぜんちがいます（to be different)。

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　これは日本のパンです。

それから、わたしは日本のびよういん(「びょういん」じゃありません、　　「びよういん(hair salon)」です）にいって、ヘアカットをしました。そこは、ちょっとたかいですけど、とてもじょうずです。わたしは、そこですごくたかい日本のシャンプーもかいました。

そして、Woodfieldモールにもいきました。このモールはとても大きくてりっぱで、ゆうめいなみせ(store)がたくさんあります。モールの中にたくさん人がいました。ごご３じごろから３じかんぐらいモールにいました。

それから、ミツワのちかくの日本のいざかや(bar)にいきました。そこで、ほかの(other)日本人のともだちといっしょに４人でばんごはんをたべました。　　日本のいざかやには、おいしいたべものがたくさんあります。そこに４じかんぐらいいましたから、サウスベンドにごぜん２じごろかえりました。いま、シカゴとサウスベンドには、じさ(time difference)が１じかんあります。ちょっとつかれました(to be tired)けど、とてもいい土曜日でした。

茶道（さどう）のイベント

１１／２の日曜日の１２じから２じまでColeman-Morseで茶道のイベントがありました。ミルウォーキーからゲストの川村（かわむら）先生がきました。６０人ぐらい学生と先生もきました。

はじめに(first) みんなMartin'sのすしをたべました。そのあとで、川村先生のレクチャーとデモンストレーションがありました。茶道のれきしとマナーを　ならいました(to learn)。

さいごに(lastly) 抹茶（まっちゃ）をのんで、おまんじゅうをたべました。　おいしかったですね。

アリクイ

きょうのクラスでアリクイのビデオをみました。ほんとうにかわいいですね。そして、おかしい(funny)です。

こども(child; baby)のアリクイのなまえは、アイちゃんです。アイちゃんは　いつもおかあさんの上にいますね。

アイちゃんとおかあさんは、よくドアをあけます(to open)。とてもじょうず(to be good at)ですね。だから(therefore)、いま、このアリクイは日本で　とてもゆうめいです。

In order to receive comments from as many people as possible, please select "Settings," then "Comments," and choose either "Registered Users" or "Users with Google Accounts" under the "Who can comment?" section.

If you want to know how to type Japanese, please click the link listed on the right side.

2. Send your blog address (URL) to the instructor.

If you have trouble opening a new account, please let the instructor know.

If you already have a blog and you can use Japanese on it, you do not have to open a new account.

みなさん、にほんごのべんきょうはどうですか？ How is your にほんごのべんきょう going?

Let’s start the Blog Project this week. For this class we would like you to keep a blog because it provides a place:  

1. To share/express your happiness, surprise, excitement, and/or frustration, as well as any questions you might have, while learning the Japanese language (or any other topics).

While studying new grammar and words is very important when learning a language, it is equally important to actually use the language in a real life context. You must not wait to express yourself only when you think you have mastered the language because language learning is basically an ongoing process. In the beginning you may use English or any languages to express yourself, but I recommend that you gradually switch to Japanese whenever you feel comfortable enough to express yourself in Japanese.

2. To communicate with your classmates and other people outside of class.

Language learning is not limited to what you do for the course but also includes what you do and experience outside the class. We will create links to your classmates' blogs as well as blogs by students in other schools, so you can see what other people think and feel about Japanese language learning (as well as other topics). You are also strongly encouraged to leave comments on these blogs.

We know that your Japanese language is very limited, but you can convey your intended meaning more effectively by utilizing other resources such as pictures and videos. Remember that people utilize not only language but also other resources such as tone of your voice, music, body language, picture, color, font style and size for communication.

3. To reflect (or evaluate) what you have done so far.

Sometimes it is challenging to see our own progress or growth. Blogs help you to look back and see how you have changed through the course of your Japanese language learning.

At the end of the semester your blog will be evaluated by the instructor, your classmates, other people, as well as yourself. We will discuss the criteria of evaluation later.
